The mangoes sourced from Ghana are mostly cultivated by small farmers. The harvest of mangoes takes place over a short period of time and is subject to strong fluctuations. The consequences: The quality of the fruits differs and the farmers do not have a stable income. We lend our support to a project in Ghana that protects the farmers. The goal is to extend the optimal harvesting season and to stabilise and/or improve the yields.
Many farmers lack the necessary agricultural knowledge to cultivate mango trees in an optimal way. Thanks to our help, the producers learn about good agricultural practice. We also contribute to financing an external specialist. He/she shows the farmers how to improve mango cultivation with simple means. Two model farms offer visual instruction. The farmers instantly see the effect that optimised farming has on the trees.
